On 21st September, the delegation from the Global Youth New Zealand Charitable Trust visited the Chinese National Cricket Team Training Base in Hangzhou, Zhejiang upon request by the Multi-ball Games Administrative Centre of the General Administration of Sport of China (GASC).
Cricket was first included in the Olympic Games in 1900, however, it was only played once and has not appeared in the Olympics since. Cricket is set to make a historic return to the Olympic Games, with its inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics, which represents a major milestone in the sport's history and reflects its growing global popularity. Countries with a strong cricketing tradition, such as New Zealand, Australia, India, England, and Pakistan, are expected to have a significant presence and influence in the tournament. However, the inclusion also opens doors for emerging cricket nations to showcase their talent on a global stage. Cricket in China is a relatively recent development compared to its long-standing traditions in other countries, but the sport has been making steady progress. There is a growing interest in cricket among Chinese youth and expatriate communities, providing a foundation for future growth.
