“At GYNZ, we devote efforts to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including Life Below Water, the Goal 14. We believe that, in addition to the health and well-being of the youth, caring for nature should be one of the key qualities of the younger generation to become the global citizens”, said the Chairman and Founder of the GYNZ, Brendan Revell.

About World Oceans Day

By the Resolution 63/111 of 5 December 2008, the UN General Assembly designated 8 June as World Oceans Day. “Awaken New Depths” is the theme for World Oceans Day 2024. The UN is joining forces with decision-makers, indigenous leaders, scientists, private sector executives, civil society, celebrities, and youth activists to showcase how our relationship with the ocean needs to urgently change since our efforts to date have only skimmed the surface. To motivate widespread momentum for the ocean, we need to awaken new depths.

About the Oceans

Oceans cover three quarters of the Earth’s surface, contain 97 per cent of the Earth’s water, and represent 99 per cent of the living space on the planet by volume. Open ocean sites show current levels of acidity have increased by 26 per cent since the start of the Industrial Revolution. Coastal waters are deteriorating due to pollution and eutrophication. Without concerted efforts, coastal eutrophication is expected to increase in 20 percent of large marine ecosystems by 2050.
